Does anyone else find this ironic?

Don't Judge A Book By The Cover...
Being fashionable does not require a limitless budget or a sugar daddy... It does however require being smart and having a good eye...
The Beauty of Marti & Liz Shoes...
Marti & Liz Shoes is a shoe store (shocker I know) that has multiple locations around the Nashville area. They sell rejected shoes from runway shows, modeling shoots, and simply shoes that did not sell the first time around for whatever reason... The beauty is that these shoes are usually good brands, sometimes designer, and are a fraction of the price! For example...
My new Cole Haan Wedges
These were not love at first sight. Honestly when I first saw them I thought they were the ugliest things ever, so ugly that they caught my eye and I had to try them on, it went from there... I'm now obsessed. It's like a wedge and a brogue, both popular at the moment, got married and had a baby. Fabulous.
Also in this photo: August Fedora at Macy's, Monsoon Tunic, BCBG Denim Shorts, Diana Warner Necklace.
Cole Haan Wedges #2
Also in this photo: Jessica Simpson ankle socks available at Macy's.
(I know, no one likes to admit they own any of J.S.'s merchandise,
but the truth is, sometimes it's just undeniably cute, and exactly what
you are looking for).
The Point Being... That sometimes you can find great deals if you know how to look for them and are willing to avoid 'judging a book by the cover' so to speak. Marti & Liz is a perfect example of this because their store image is horrific, it is an ugly strip mall storefront, with no merchandizing to speak of, generally poor customer service, a return policy that would keep the surest shoppers double checking that they are positive they want to purchase their shoes, and poor lighting, to mention just a few things... However, you will be rewarded if you are able to look past all of this and comb the racks and racks of shoes for that one awesome designer pair that is priced at $24.99. That is a happy day. ;)
On These Racks...
I have found UGG boots for $24.99, Nine West sandals for $14.99, Cole Haan wedges for $24.99. So, though the shelves are not pretty, do not prematurely judge them... Look for similar stores in your area. ;)

Screw Dogs... This Is Your New Best Friend!
Many of you may already know about this - I however was just introduced a few weeks ago. For those of you who, like me, have spent hours with scissors, lint roller brushes, or perhaps even duct tape...

Some fabulous person, created this fabric shaver, and you have no idea how great it is (and I am NOT being paid to write this). Basically it works like a large electric men's razor and shaves away the little ball-y bits that refuse to let go of your knitwear... In seconds! It's battery operated and the best five dollars you will ever spend (available at Target - click above link).
WARNING: If you are not careful you can actually cut holes in your garment with this - simply don't press too hard...
I have before and after photos to awe and amaze you... ;)
Basically, one sad day I did laundry... Little did I know that my mother had washed a lambs wool bedcover in the washer the day before - and had failed to clean out the remaining bits of fuzz that lingered in the washer - the result was this...

Months Later, a friend informed me of the fabric shaver and...

Apricot Lane Boutique
It seems appropriate that my first post feature Apricot Lane, a locally owned fashion boutique in the Mall at Green Hills!
I've chosen a few pieces that I think are super cute, versatile, and basically a great addition to every girls' wardrobe...
Floral Spring Dress by Wish
Would not choose to pair it with gladiator wedges, however, that was all we had in the shop on Thursday! Great spring/summer dress, or tunic for those of us over 5'5", in a fabulous floral print that most of us are obsessed with this time of year. ;)
Floral and/or Feathered Headwear
Appropriate for both day and evening wear, depending on the style, and seriously increases the cuteness factor of your outfit effortlessly! Honestly, the hardest part of sprucing up your look with things like this feathered headband is lifting your arms above your head...
24 Hour Dress by Wish
It's a light jersey dress designed to look amazing in the day with a pair of sandals/ballet flats, or pair it with high heels in the evening for a few cocktails at the bar. Described in one word - FABULOUS.
Jeggings by 1921
I know what you're thinking - what the hell are Jeggings?! Well it's quite logical... Jeggings are jeans that are WAY too tight to be considered normal jeans, but have way too much denim/cotton, not to mention a button and zip, so are therefor thrown out of the regular 'legging' category. It really does make sense I promise. ;) Anyway, this look has been popular for a few years now, but if you're at all like me, you avoided it like the plague for fear of looking like a female speed skater. However, once you've tried them there really is no going back, they look awesome with flats, heels, for daywear, or a night out on the town, just be sure to wear them with a long and/or loose fitting top. There is no need to walk around in an outfit so tight you look like a wannabe superhero.
Also in this photo: Diana Warner Freshwater Pearl Necklace, Polka Dot Top by Wish, T-Strap Heels by Jigsaw of London.
That is all for now as I have to eat something (am starving)! Thanks to Danielle for modeling some dresses and snapping some photos for me. ;)
With Love,

Under Construction...
Thank you for reading AbFab Fashions!
This blog is currently in the developmental stages... I simply cannot write my posts while my site is in need of a serious face lift (so to speak - I do not really support cosmetic surgery unless absolutely necessary). So, I will work on making it pretty, because I really want to start posting!
